Attendance Policy PDF Print E-mail

Distance learning allows students the flexibility to arrange their academic schedule in many different ways. Students may study at various times during the day and may use the weekend to get ahead or to catch up in their work.  All Sequoia Choice Arizona Distance Learning students must devote enough time to their education demonstrating appropriate academic progress and experiencing success in their courses.

  • Students, whether they are at a lab site or at home, must meet the weekly attendance requirements.  Although Sequoia Choice allows students to schedule their courses according to their personal needs and preferences, minimum attendance hours must be fulfilled.  Below are the attendance hours required.
    • Middle School = 30 hrs per week
    • High School = 25 hrs per week

Note:  With distance learning, attendance hours are extremely important because they represent the total time spent on educational activities.  Non-attendance has a profound affect on a students learning and causes the school great concern.

Consequences for Non-Attendance (hours recorded)

The State of Arizona requires that all students with more than 9 absences per semester be withdrawn.  For this reason Sequoia Choice cannot maintain the enrollment of students with excessive absences or insufficient attendance hours.

If, despite the school's repeated attempts at contact, a student falls more than 9 days behind in recorded attendance, Sequoia Choice may have to automatically withdraw the student.
